In her artistic practice Merle explores how to undo the reality of materials and letting textures, props and colors define political and complex internal structures. Combined with personal need for fiction, it brought her to set design for film and video installations.
Being sick for a couple of years has shaped her need for slowness, which also reflects in her work. Her motivation is to invent (slow) artistic maneuvers, that create confidence.
Merle works and lives in Berlin.
