Bio

DFA * VSK
Merle Vorwald (*West Germany) is an independent production designer and artist-researcher based in Berlin and Brussels.
Her contrasting worlds are actively treated as possibility for the other. Their media might widely differ, but in the progression of projects, the practices found a place within each other.
Both aesthetics examine pop culture, design and micro intimate, often historical fringe phenomena in everyday materials. Their imperfect surfaces function as translation vessel for complex emotional realities into cinematic, digital or physical aesthetics.

Her research work constructs a collection of fictionalized autobiographical matters and their inherent politics.

Her work is always collaborative and often connected to Belgium.
